Lil Monsters Nail Art

About a month ago I had on an Essie nail polish. It had been on for about a week and it started to chip. Instead of painting where it was needed or taking it off all together, I decided to go over it with some nail art. One thing lead to the next and I ended up with little monsters on my fingers. Well, I decided I hadn't done that precise of a job on it. The eyes looked droopy and the teeth were lopsided and wavy. Soon after my realization, I decided it would be a perfect fit for Halloween. Anything can pass for Halloween. So, that's my excuse for being shaky handed on these nails. Great story right?

What I used.....
- Essie's Damsel in a Dress (base purple color)
- Zoya's Shey (for the teeth)
-random NYC polish (for the iris)
-Seche Vite Fast Drying Top Coat

This is a cute idea for the days leading up to Halloween or even on the day if you're not into dressing up. Hope you enjoyed!

Halloween Series: Cleopatra Eyes

To start off this Halloween makeup series, I thought I would do a Cleopatra look because I know that can be a popular costume. (Coming from a girl who was her two years ago.) This may seem super early to be starting Halloween tutorials, but I thought some of these may give a few of you some inspirations who aren't quite sure what character they will be portraying on October 31st! If you think about it, most people have their costume idea by the beginning of October anyway. I think there are many different ways of portraying this eye look, so here is one of them!

What you'll need.....
-eye primer
-MAC Paintpot in Rubenesque
-burnt golden eye shadow
-gel liner
-black shadow
-mascara
-liquid liner

Here's one way to achieve this look.....

Step 1- Apply a primer all over the lid.

Step 2- Apply MAC Paintpot in Rubenesque just up to your crease.
Step 3- Go over that in a burnt golden eye shadow.
Step 4- Apply your black gel liner with a simple liner brush as shown below. (It's ok if it's a bit shaky. You're going to clean it up with a shadow next.)
Step 5- Go over the gel liner with a black shadow. I used Noir from my Sleek palette.

Step 6- Using your gel liner, create the straight line below. For the curlicue, it might be easier to use the liquid liner or a thin pointed liner brush. Apply mascara.

And there you have your Cleopatra look! As I said before, there are many different ways of doing this. You can do exactly what I did here or you could even take snippets of this and make it your own! Have fun and I will have more Halloween makeup up after this!

P.S.- For any Halloween makeup requests, comment below!

Sara Bareilles- Gonna Get Over You Video Makeup

Sara just came out with a new video a couple of days ago to her song, Gonna Get Over You. It's a really fun, upbeat, and colorful video with lots of cheesy, feel-good dancing. I loved how she had her hair, big pouf in the front and a tight pony in the back. So, I thought I would do a tutorial on the makeup along with pics of my attempted hair creation. I can already tell it's going to be really difficult to get all the knots out.

What I used:
-Sleek Oh So Special palette
-Too Faced Shadow Insurance
-Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Pencil in Zero
-Bad Gal Lash mascara

Step 1: Apply your primer all over your lid.

Step 2: Using Noir (the black) from the Sleek palette, go over the lid with a slightly winged corner.
Step 3: Go over the lid and a little bit up more with Glitz from the Sleek palette.
Step 4: Blend Boxed from the palette into the crease.
Step 4: Go into the waterline and upper lashline with the Urban Decay pencil or any other black liner you may have.

Step 5: On the bottom lashline, apply a bit of Sleek's Noir.

Step 6: Curl your lashes and coat them with your favorite voluminous mascara.

Hope you enjoyed this inspired look and I will see you back next time with a much anticipated (by me at least) Halloween tutorial!

P.S.- Don't forget to take the poll at the right!

What I'm Loving: Makeup Forever Aqua Cream

I thought I would start doing more of these types of posts on products I have received recently and loving as of now. It's more of a first impressions than a review because I have only had this product for a few days. The Makeup Forever Aqua Cream in 12 which is a goldy copper color has been on my eyes since the day I got it! I even wear it to my field hockey games and it hugs onto my lids so well! Here is a pic of the actual product, although the swatches didn't come out quite right.

Love this product and I think it's definitely worth checking out if you need something that will last you all day and don't mind a bit of a splurge!

You can get it here from Sephora for $22.

Autumn Eyes

Here is a fall look that I threw together using a couple things I got at Sephora. I love the gold and brown together for these coming cooler seasons and think anyone can work it!

What I used.....
-Too Faced Shadow Insurance
-Makeup Forever Aqua Cream in 12
-Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero
- Benefit Bad Gal Lash mascara
-Boxed from Sleek palette

Step 1- Apply a primer all over your lid.

Step 2- On the lid, place the aqua cream in 12, which is a goldy copper color.

Step 3- In the crease, I used Boxed from my Sleek Oh So Special palette.

Step 4- Next, I used the Urban Decay pencil in Zero on my waterline and tightline.

Step 5- Apply mascara!

This look is really simple and fun to play with! You can substitute products for similar ones you may have to make your own version!

Outfit/Eye of the Day!

Today was such a memorable and amazing day! I got to meet my #1 most influential and inspiring makeup lover, Cora (Vintage or Tacky). She was glowing with her beauty and was just a fun to be around! As a lot of you know, Cora was the first one who got me interested in makeup and it has stuck with me ever since. I watch her videos religiously and loooove all of her tutorials. I thought I would share what I wore to the meet n' greet she had!
Top: Forever 21, Belt: Francessca's, Jeans (Meks), Booties: Steve Madden

Here's a rough idea of the makeup I wore. Sine I did it in the car, I wasn't able to do any liner. (We were kinda in a rush!) Lid: MAC All That Glitters, Outer Crease: MAC Sable. For mascara, I used Covergirl's Lash Blast Fusion. (Sorry for the not so great pic!)
I had such a great time today, so thank you Cora to the moon and back! You are the best!

Birchbox Excitement: September

Some of you were wondering why I never did a Birchbox post last month and the reason was, it was so terrible I didn't even have the energy to do a post on it. I decided if this month's wasn't the best I've ever gotten, I was going to cancel. I kept waiting and waiting for this month's and you could imagine the excitement I had when they sent me two! Two of the same! That means double product. Obviously, they made a mistake in shipping but it was the cherry on top of a long week.

My loot! (Clockwise from top; Liv Grn perfume, Lash Card, Jouer Lip Enhancer, friendship bracelets, Blinc mascara, Incoco nail strips.)

Incoco Nail Polish Strips

Since this month marks their one year anniversary, they gave everyone these cute friendship bracelets. I really liked the product sent in this one and I look forward to getting to know them a little bit better.

Eyelash Boo-Boo!

One makeup tip that I find very important to anyone curling lashes, don't curl after you put on your mascara! There are very few people that can do this without damaging your lashes. The first time I heard about this rule was in the Bobbi Brown Beauty Rules book and it made no sense to me. Since then, it has been explained to me in better depth. What I got out of it was if you curl your lashes when your mascara is wet, they can stick to the curler and once you let go, rip out or bend in ways you don't want them to, defeating the entire purpose of curling them. Do the curling first, starting at the root for a more opened looking eye. Once you have them held in the right place, coat them in mascara for extra hold. Obviously, beauty rules are not law. If you find you can do this without damaging your lashes, go right ahead, but I have just learned otherwise.

I hope you enjoyed this quick tip!

NYX Blush Review: Pinched

I bought this blush a while back from Ulta and have been using it here and there ever since. It's a really pretty color (peachy pink with gold undertones) and gives that really natural flush of color look. You don't need too much and when I apply it, I use a MAC 168 but whatever brush you have will work. It doesn't hold the color as well as I wished it would which means for more than one application throughout the day. The only other really annoying thing I've noticed about this blush is that when you close the case, there's no snap to keep it from coming open which can be not so good. That might just be me being picky and that doesn't bother you. Either way, it's just something I noticed. Otherwise I'm really liking this blush right now and think it could work for many skin tones. I would rate this a 3.5 out of 5.

Pigmentation- 1.5/2
Color- 1/1
Lasting- 0.5/1
Packaging- 0.5/1

NYX blushes are available at Ulta here for $5.99 and sometimes there are special deals on them!

Eye Look of the Day

Here is a look that is slowly but surely making it's way back; doubled liner. I've seen it popping up more recently and thought I would throw together an Eye of the Day for it.

For the blue, I just used a couple eye shadows slightly wet and gel liner for the black. In the waterline I have MAC's Powerpoint Pencil in Engraved. Use any mascara you would like! I was going for more of a sheer blue, but if you wanted a bolder look, you could try a blue gel liner.

Sleek Pout Paints

As you guys know, about a week or two ago I received my Sleek package which included two pout paints. I thought I would put together a little Pout Paint overview and fun. The two colors I got were Minx and Milkshake. Please ignore the dryness of my hands!
Mostly Minx (left) and a dab of Milkshake (right). Remember: A LITTLE BIT GOES A LONG WAYS!

What I got from mixing the two.

So far, I think these are super fun to play around with! I wish I had gotten a bigger variety of colors to mix with, but what are you gonna do? If you want a full detailed review, I can do that but I thought I would just do a fun post playing with the product.

Pout Paints are available from the Sleek website here for $8 each.

Promised Lip Look Inspired by Cora

As I promised, here is the lip look Cora did along with her how to rock and orange lip video. There are no words to describe how beautiful this is. The technique may sound odd, but the end product is beyond fantabulous!

video by Cora (my inspiration)- click here

My interpretation:

Step 1: Apply your orange lip stick all over your lips.

Step 2: Make a small O shape with your mouth as shown below.

Step 3: Take a small blending brush with some burnt gold colored eyeshadow and sweep it in circles.
finished look
I love this look! Thank you so much Cora for being such and inspiration and first one to get me interested in makeup! Check out her videos starting with the one linked above.

Product Rave/Review: Revlon Lips in Siren

Here is a lipstick that I have been obsessed with for a while now and thought to share it with you in inspiration to one of my favorite beauty gurus (Vintageortacky a.k.a Cora) who just recently did a whole video on how to rock an orange lip. She also did an amazing lip look while doing so that I was so inspired by. It was just gorgeous! I thought I would first share this product with you and tomorrow show you the look using it also inspired by her. Here come the pics!

video inspiration- click here

I think the name Siren is so perfect for this color because of how loud it is. I'm definitely loving this right now and seriously can't think of a single negative thing to say about it which must be a first! The formula is super creamy and light. I would rate this product a 5/5!

Another Huge Thanks to Julia!

So as you guys may have noticed, I've been in the process of giving my blog a little face lift in terms of backgrounds and other displays. Another new change was a brand new beautiful header by Julia of A Chic Dystopia! She has the cutest designs and had done my original header just to be nice, so when I started changing things around, I asked her if she was interested in making me another. She gladly did and it's gorgeous! So, thank you Julia for your phenomenal work!

Check out Julia's blog here!
