My Christmas Eye Look

I thought I would do a simple and festive look for the upcoming holiday weekend (which I feel couldn't come any slower). I looooove Christmas and anything to do with the holiday season. The decorations, food, and most importantly, the shopping. I'm heading off to San Fran tomorrow to experience some really big trees, lots of lights, and extremely last-minute shopping. Expect some pictures from that excursion. To get into the mood before I head of to the city, here is a fun glittery eye look...

Products Used (in order used)-
-Too Faced Shadow Insurance
-MAC Paintpot in Rubenesque
-BH Cosmetics 88 Standard Shimmer Palette
-MAC Cranberry
-Sleek Oh So Special Palette (matte brown)
-Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Liner in Blackest Black
-Urban Decay 24/7 Pencil in Zero
-Lit Cosmetics Glitter in Cowgirl w/ Lit Clearly Liquid Glitter Base
-mark. Scanda-Lash Mascara in Black-Lash

Pair this with a bold red lip and you're good to go for any holiday party or dinner you may have this week. Or tone it down with a neutral lippie.

December Birchbox

Oops! A little late on this one, but I guess better late than never, right? As you may know, I have been getting a Birchbox for a while now. If you're not familiar with what it is, check out my first Birchbox post here. I thought this month, they were going to go all out considering it's Christmas and all. It was a really good box, don't get me wrong, just not as elaborate as I thought. Also, all of the profits from "full-size sales" will go to a charity called Baby Buggy. I thought that was really cool. Anyway, onto the box...

Ageless.

Blinc Liquid Liner

I feel like this pic doesn't do the gloss much justice. In person, it's much more fuchsia.

Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in Violet Ink

I picked up this treasure a few weekends ago at the Cosbar. The color caught my eye and since I don't have any Bobbi Brown liners, I thought I would try it out. This one is in Violet Ink. I haven't played around with it enough to do a review, but look out for it in some upcoming tutorials.

Nicki Minaj Inspired

A while ago at the VMA's, Nicki Minaj was wearing a baby blue eye look with black winged liner, big lashes in the outer corners, and bubble gum pink lips. I've seen her wearing it since then, so I thought it would make a cute post.

Step 1: Prime your eyes.

Step 2: Apply a sticky blue base. (I used NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Baby Blue)

Step 3: Go over with a baby blue shadow and a tad bit of a teal.

Step 4: Soften up the crease with a shadow one shade darker than your skin.

Step 5: Wing your black eyeliner on top.

Step 6: Go over your waterline with a white liner.

Step 7: Put on false lashes along with your mascara. (optional)

Step 8: Nicki wore a bubblegum pink lip with this. You can if you want to.

For the lips, I used my Sleek Pout Paints.

Have fun with this look and go crazy like Nicki!

Feelin' in a Peacock Kinda Mood

This weekend was just a peacock weekend for me. I guess I just felt a burst of bird energy. Vintageortacky's Cora had done a peacock mask look during Halloween and I thought I would try it out. The next day, I did a much simpler look using the same colors. Since I did them within days of each other, I thought I would put them into one post. So, here it is!

Please ignore the untamed eyebrows. I wasn't planning on posting this until now. Inspiration by Vintageortacky.

My other peacock interpretation. Products that I used: Too Faced Shadow Insurance, NYX Jumbo Pencil in Rocky Mountain Green, Urban Decay 24/7 in Zero, MAC False Lashes Mascara, BH Cosmetics 88 Color Standard Shimmer Palette.

How To Spot Clean Brushes

When using brushes for multiple different things in one look, spot cleaning is your friend. You don't want to get the last color you used mixed into your new color. You also don't want to deep clean them in between each use. A happy medium for this is SPOT CLEANING! It's easy and you can use the brush almost instantly after being cleaned. There are recipes out there for DIY cleaners, but I haven't really tried any of those. I just use a store bought (Clinique) cleaner which does magic. Here's how to do it.....

Find yourself a brush cleaner that works for you.

Before being cleaned.

Get a towel or T-shirt and spray some cleaner on it. Then swirl your brush around in it until it's cleaned.

Smokey Bronze

A few days ago I decided to do an inspired look by a magazine cover. That didn't work out too well, so I transformed it into this. It's a more daring look that isn't super dark. I didn't use very many products which makes it a lot easier to achieve on your own. Of course, don't go out and buy it because I used it. Use what you have and make it your own. Now, onto the pictures!

Products Used:
-Makeup Forever Aqua Cream in #12
-Sleek Oh So Special (my favorite palette in the whole, wide world!)
-Random brown drugstore liner
-mark. scanda-lash mascara

I have some tutorials planned for next week, so keep checking in! I hope you guys have a fantabulous weekend!

November Birchbox

Last night I got my November Birchbox and right now I'm thinking it was probably the best one yet. The Zoya polish I got is kind of amazing (just saying), the perfume smells as if it belonged to a princess, the shimmer cream is really festive, the bracelet is something I could see myself wearing on a regular basis, and the mud mask is something I've never tried before. The only thing I found I didn't have a use for was the paper coasters. They are adorable. I just don't have a need for coasters. I've had this polish on since I pulled out of the box, but I don't think the picture gives it much justice. The color is so beautiful and it gives off hints of sparkle in the sun.
Shade: Izzy

Vanille Insensee Cologne Absolue by Atelier Cologne, Borghese Fango Active Mud, LaROCCA Skincare Champagne&Shimmer Supreme Creme, Zoya Nail Polish in Izzy, Two Paper Dolls Ampersand Coasters, BaubleBar bracelet.

Apple Pie Decorated Cake

Over the weekend, my sister and I worked on a cake with one of our friends to make a birthday cake for our littlest sister. She loves pie and made a club for it with one of her friends and named herself president of the pie club. We thought she would go crazy for a cake that looked like a pie, so that's what we ended up doing. It turned out adorable and we had a fabulous time making it. Here are a couple pics of the end result.

Bottom two layers are confetti cake. Inside, pie is Oreo cake. Marshmallow fondant. (All homemade.) We covered the "pie crust" in chocolate powder to make it look more like baked pie crust.

Apple-O's for "apples".

A Few MAC Shadows New to Me

About a week ago, I purchased some new MAC shadows. One was for my Fall Formal dance that night and the other two were ones that I've just been dying to try. I got Scene (satin), Mythology (lustre), and Cranberry (frost). At first, I thought Scene was a matte, but it turns out it does have a little bit off a glow to it. That was the only one I was not really impressed with. It seemed to be a lot alike Blackberry from MAC in the sense that they are both a bit chalky and dull. (I did use it for my makeup at my Fall Formal.) Otherwise, I was really happy with what I got!

Mythology, Cranberry, Scene

Here, the two MAC shadows I used were All That Glitters and Scene. In the crease, I used Scene mixed with a matte black. For liner, I used a Maybelline gel liner. I also layered a matte white over All That Glitters on the inner corners.

Strawberry Shortcake

Today I decided to do my last Halloween tutorial with a strawberry shortcake look. I had two ways of doing it, one more dramatic than the other. They were both pretty easy to do. I just used my BH Cosmetics 88 Shimmer Palette, a white liner for underneath the shadows, a black liner for the dots (or seeds of the strawberry), and NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Rocky Mountain Green. Don't forget your primer and mascara! The reason why I say this is because I made the mistake of forgetting mascara, so bear with me on the lashes. Here are the two of them. Hope you enjoy!

Forgot mascara! Oops!
I hope all of you have a happy Halloween!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month Nails

As most of you may know, October has been declared Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Today, I thought I would go along with the theme and do a little bit of nail art to represent support. You can see the pink ribbon on my ring finger which is the official symbol of breast cancer awareness. These nails were super easy and fun! I just used a pointed pencil dipped in pink nail polish for the ribbon.

Have a happy Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

Purple Hair Using Splat!

Over the weekend, I decided to do something fun and crazy to my hair. To some of you, a purple streak in my hair is not that drastic, but this was the first time I have ever permanently colored my hair.  I love how it turned out! The dye I used was Splat in the lavender color from CVS. We bleached it first since my hair is a darker color and I wanted a brighter purple. All the product we used was from the same package. I think kinda goes along with the Halloween season.

Have a happy Monday!

Dia De Los Muertos Look (Day of the Dead)

Day of the Dead is a Mexican Holiday that takes place on November 1st and 2nd. I don't know too much about the holiday other than people go all out with costumes, go through parades and also make offerings to their dead loved ones. When I was in 8th grade, I learned all about it and we got to color in our own Dia de los Muertos skulls which have a more colorful and fun outtake on a skeleton. I used that coloring as inspiration for this. If you were planning on going on Halloween as just a plain skeleton, you could skip all the colorful steps in this look and add a couple more stitch lines. Hope you like it!

Plain skeleton (before the colorful goes on).

The face paint I used was one from CVS called Professional Cream Makeup. I didn't really like it too much. As you can see in the pictures, it wouldn't go on completely smooth, but oh well, it's supposed to be dead anyway, I guess I used two coats of it, so if you want that smooth look, I would look around for a better face paint. Otherwise, I really liked this look and hope you guys can take something out of it! The colors I used were all just from random palettes and liners, so as long as you have something similar, you'd be good to go!

Vintage Halloween Look

Sepia and pearls are the two main things I think of when I think vintage. I've always loved that combo, which led me to a vintage makeup look, perfect for Halloween. You could even wear this outside of Halloween and look fabulous! Another thing to think of is bright and bold red lips! Here is my interpretation of what a vintage makeup look would be like.

I tried making the picture of the lips look a little more antique-y, but it just didn't show off the pow of red. When doing this type of look, you want to make your lines as flawless as possible (I tried) and very matte. With the lips, you can go a little glossy and it'll look perfect. A stain would do well too for the lips. And lastly, on brows, go with a tight line and arch.
This Forever 21 necklace would be the cherry on top for you vintage look. Remember, you can rock this anytime, not just Halloween.

Products Used:
-Sleek Oh So Special Palette
-Too Faced Shadow Insurance
-MAC False Lashes Mascara
-Maybeline Very Cherry lipstick
-white liner for waterline

Halloween Fairy

Here is a fairy look for Halloween that is easy to do and fun to play around with. You can pair it with a high bun and ribbon or long loose curls and a cute frock.

What I used.....
-Too Faced Shadow Insurance
-BH Cosmetics 88 Standard Shimmer Palette
- Sleek Oh So Special Palette
-Lit Cosmetics Glitter in Pink Flamingo and Purple Rain (with the adhesive)
-MAC False Lashes Mascara
-white eye liner
-NYX Jumbo Pencil in Purple

Step 1: Prime your lids.

Step 2: Apply the bright peach color from the Sleek palette. (Not sure on the name.)
Step 3: Apply the NYX pencil all around the crease and under the lash line.

Step 4: I used a true purple color from my BH palette over the pencil.
Step 5: In the deep crease, I used a darker purple for some more dimension.

Step 6: Blend the outsides and soften it out with a hot pink shadow.
Step 7: Apply Pink Flamingo glitter from Lit with their adhesive all over the lid and Purple Rain on the inner corner.

Step 8: Use a white eyeliner in the waterline.

Step 9: Add mascara or even false lashes if you want.
And there you have your fairy makeup laden with fun glitter! I loved playing with these glitters and can see myself using them in more tutorials! Keep a look out for some more Halloween fun.

Always,
Britta
