Out at Sea

Today I decided to branch out a little and use some blues which is a color I don't find myself using too often. It's always fun for me to do something different just because I never know how it's going to turn out. Turns out I love working with blue! I really like how it came out and I know I'll be using blue more often. For this look, the key is the base. After I primed my eyes, I covered my lid with a black eyeliner. That's what gave the look it's depth, kind of like an ocean which is what I was going for. I hope you like the look just as much as I do!

Back with Another Rainbow Look

Hello lovelies! Yes, I realize I've been MIA lately so I thought I would come back with a fun, bright look. I recently went to IMATS LA (which was amazing!!!) and I did pick up some new products while I was there. For those of you makeup geeks like me who are interested in going to IMATS, I urge you to go. It was so much fun and for those who may be a bit confused on what IMATS (International Makeup Artist Trade Show) is, it's basically one big trade show where every makeup company you can think of comes and sets up their own booth. Most of them are selling products really cheap where others are just there to get their name out. Not only was there beauty type makeup but special effects makeup as well. It can get pretty crazy and packed, but I only went on the Sunday instead of both Saturday and Sunday which I think helped with the lines. The most exciting part of it for me was meeting one of my favorite youtubers Leesha, or Xsparkage. It was unreal getting to see her in person just because I've been watching her on my computer for years. I also got to see Cora, or Vintageortacky, again! That was fun for me because she recognized me from her meet-up I went to last year. So, anyway, those of you interested in going, I highly recommend you go at least once. Alright, enough of my rambling! Here's my look for you guys today.

Galaxy Nails

So I realize I've been doing a lot more nail posts that usual. Hope that's alright with you guys. I've just been in a nail art kinda mood. A few weeks back, I did my friend's nails. I had been on tumblr and the galaxy design was just really popular all over my dashboard. And these adorable galaxy patterned leggings kept popping up everywhere. That is where I got my inspiration for the nails. I watched a couple videos on how to do it and all of them used makeup sponges. So, you thinking the makeup freak I am, I would have an extra makeup sponge laying around that I could rip up and cover in nail polish. I'm disappointed to say I didn't. What kind of a makeup artist am I?? So, anyways, I ended up using just a regular kitchen sponge (clean of course!). And this is what I ended up with.

I wish I would've been able to make the stars a little bit smaller on some of the nails, but other than that, I was pretty happy with the way they turned out. Thanks for stopping by and have a fantabulous weekend!

Britta

MAC Extra Dimension Eye Shadow in Modern Pewter

Hello lovelies! Sorry I've been gone for so long! I don't think I've gone this long without doing a post and that's just depressing. So, yesterday I did a couple of girls' makeup for their prom. I just wanted to show you one of the main products I ended up using and since its slightly new at MAC, I thought I would share it with you.

With flash.

Natural light.
I loooove the design. I'm always a sucker for products with a stamped look. Even though they don't last very long. This was part of the In Extra Dimension line for $20. That's $5 more than a regular shadow but you have to take in consideration the size. Where the normal ones have 1.5 g, this one has 2 g. I like this product so far and already have a look planned using it. Thanks for stopping by!

Lisa Frank Cheetah Inspiration

When I was really little, I got this Lisa Frank purse from someone. I loved it to death and I still have it. I was inspired to do a look based off of the colors and pattern of the cheetah or leopard (I don't know the difference) that's on my beloved handbag. The only thing I did differently on my look was that I left out the green. I wasn't able to incorporate it. Probably could've if I had tried a little harder, but I ended up liking it without the green anyway. I wore this look to one of my friend's shows of The Hobbit and I got so many compliments on it! I put on some lashes when I went to see it, so I'll show you pics of it with and without the lashes.

Without lashes.
With lashes.
Hope you liked this look! Always, Britta

Tribal Print Nails

Since my cupcakes were wearing off and chipping, I thought I would redo my nails. I got my inspiration on tumblr (my new addiction) from this pic:
I loved the print and thought it would look really cute as a nail look, so here we are.
I've been seeing tribal prints a lot in clothing and fun stuff like that. It came out kinda similar to the original picture, right? I'm really happy with how they turned out which is good considering it took me a good hour. For the small detailing, I used thin brush polishes. If you're planning on doing something like this, I recommend topping it off with a clear top coat just to hold all of the detailing in place. Hope you liked this look! I had fun making it.

March Birchbox: Teen Vogue Edition

This month's Birchbox was really cool because I had the option to either get my regular box with products put together by Birchbox or get a Teen Vogue collaborated one. I love Teen Vogue and have a monthly subscription, so I thought, why not? They put together a box of some of their favorites, products they love at Teen Vogue. I loved it! Here are some pics of what was in it!

tarte LipSurgence lip tint (= <3)

Kerastase Elixir Ultime

You can never have too many hair ties!

Essie Luxeffects

So, to sum it all up this box equals love! And that's really all I have to say. I'm thinking of doing a product overview on the tarte lip tint just because I'm so in love with it! Oh, and in addition to all these products, I also got a discount code for ModCloth, which was pretty cool. Thank you all for reading! Happy Friday!

St. Patrick's Day Look!!!

St. Patrick's Day is coming up as you are probably aware of (March 17)! I thought I would get into the festive mood by doing a green and slightly gold look. I'm not even quite sure what we celebrate on St. Patrick's Day. I might want to look that up! To me, it's a day I grew up with when we dressed and ate in all green and tried to catch leprechauns. I will for sure be looking up the real meaning of the holiday. In the meantime, here is a look for the upcoming festivities!

Purple Look for Green Eyes

My friend Julia asked me yesterday if purple really made green eyes pop. When done correctly, you can make your eyes pop with any color, but purple in itself is known to help green eyes without much effort. If you guys like this, I can probably do looks and tips for different colored eyes. Just let me know! I ended up doing a dark smokey purple for this and I hope this answers your question, Julia!

If you look at a color wheel, red is the main complimenting color to a true green. I don't think you really want to go around with a red lid, but hey, what ever tickles you pink. So, other colors that go hand in hand with green are purples and peachy pinks. In person with this look, my eyes look super green and definitely pop more than they would with another color. Another thing to keep in mind, I went over my waterline and tightline with a black liner. That also added to the popping effect. This trick goes for all eye colors, not just green. I hope you found this helpful and let me know if you want to see more looks like this!

Cupcake Nails

Today I felt a burst of creativity as I was sitting at home. I've always wanted to do some cupcake nails and I had the day off, so I thought why not? They took forever and as always, I ran into complications, but what would nail art be without a little bit of frustration?

I ended up happy with the result and encourage you to try this out if you have some time and PATIENCE.  With that, I hope you all have a good start to your weekend!
I had a little fun with the scrabble pieces today too!!

Spring is Coming!!!

As you all know, Spring is on its way! I was inspired by Nikkie Tutorials to do a blue/green/yellow look to get hyped for the upcoming season. Spring is going to be so fun for makeup. I'll be able to pull off some crazy looks and colors. This week, I've also had finals so I thought this look would help pull me out of my finals funk. It worked and I'm ready to take my Spanish test tomorrow!!! Word of advice, when studying for a huge test, don't focus all your time on just work. You need to be able to squeeze breaks in for creative stuff or even just Facebook time. You won't get so tense. That is what I have realized after having studied for finals this year and thought I would share it with you all, even if some of you may be finished with school. Anywho, enough of my rambling! Here's the look!

To anyone celebrating, either with someone or not, I hope you all have an amazing Valentine's Day! And I'm Back... Again Product Overview/Super Bowl Look

As the title suggests, I am back to my blogging ways. I had a couple stressful weeks recently and just didn't even have the energy to blog. But fret no longer (because I know you were) I am here! So, (enough of my big-headed-ness) to start this post off, I wanted to share a few pics of my most recent purchase. There has been a lot of hype about this product lately, so when I was at my Target the other day, I thought I would try it out. It is Maybelline Color Tattoo in Painted Purple. Although I have not yet done a look with it, you can expect to see it in my "Products Used" section soon.

Left; product alone, Right; product layered with a purple shadow from my BH palette, Top; shadow alone.

As you can see, it sure adds a lot of extra pow to your color, which is always good. I haven't had much time with this product really to say too much about it, but I do like what I see just from swatching it.

And, I thought I would show you all a quick peek at my Super Bowl look from yesterday.
Nothing too special, but I thought it was fun! I have a lot planned for my blog, so get pumped everyone! I can tell you I recently received an award called the Liebster Award which I will tell you more about very soon. It is something I need to work on and will probably be my next post. I am super excited to be working on my blog again after my two week (or so) break! Thank you for sticking around.

Always,
Britta
